  • 826 Michigan – Volunteer Writing Coach

I provide teaching assistance to 826michigan’s non-profit writing lab and support their mission to provide free quality and engaging writing programs that inspire school-aged children to become more confident and skilled writers. These programs include, but are not limited to, one-on-one tutoring, workshops, drop-in writing programs, field trips, in-school programs, and publishing.

  • Girls on the Run International – Leadership and Education Coach

I served five seasons coordinating and leading after-school character development programs for teams in grades 3-8 for Girls on the Run in Southeastern Michigan. These programs are part of an international non-profit organization that combines running with leadership training and community service projects to help encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development in young girls.

In addition, I worked for one year as a Livingston County Coordinator for Girls on the Run International. My main responsibilities for this job were to create, facilitate and monitor after-school programs in Livingston County by working closely with school administration and PTA committees in each of the school districts. I provided articles and press releases to local publications to help promote community involvement. I also supported existing teams and coaches by providing valuable information of upcoming events, training updates and visiting sites.

I provided support to MOPS leadership teams and gave them strategies on how to maintain group membership. Additionally, I coordinated and facilitated council events, visited sites as an observer and as a public speaker, established communication through monthly newsletters and weekly emails, mediated leadership disputes as well as ensured groups were promoting the MOPS International vision.

  • Mothers Of Preschoolers – Co-Coordinator at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church

I helped facilitate bi-monthly events that supported women in the community through providing leadership skills training, parenting workshops, personal development, practical instruction and mentoring in a faith-based environment dedicated to meeting the needs of mothers with pre-school aged children. I also co-led monthly leadership meetings, maintained communication through newsletters and personal training.
